anti - form finding studio

recently the issue which has occupied much of my brains CPU is that old story of from in architecture and that my observation of the emergence of now these growing number of form finding studio's everywhere including here at Columbia. our studio with Enrique Walker took a different path as the formal aspect of the design was not an issue at all. further on, we didn't look for an specific type of form, instead we stepped in the process of reaching a situation where we could create a number of possibilities for the unique architectural concept to emerge. the process would eventually trigger innovative solutions to the old problem. with the high level of constraints we gradually begin a deep investigation in the normally branded "cliche's" in architecture. the concept would ultimately require pragmatic form in order to answer the practical problems of the design. a simple way of describing all this would be that we never went to find the form but we created a situation for the form to be found.
